The Gospel Message in the Five Solas

If you are you wondering why we named our company “Five Solas Media,” you have certainly come to the right place! The word “Sola” in Latin simply means ”alone.” The “Five Solas” or “Five Alones” summarize what the Reformers sought to teach when rejecting the “works based salvation” taught by the church in the 16th century.  As a result, these phrases were commonly found in the Reformers’ writings and teachings. God used the teachings of the Reformers to bring people back to the gospel.

The Five Solas really do sum up two things—how we are saved and why we are saved. For this reason, we love the Five Solas because the gospel message in it is clear—straight forward and no strings attached. Because of this, the gospel shines through! As a media company, Our goal is to show how God weaved all things together for the sake of the gospel throughout history. Inspired by this goal, we chose the name “Five Solas Media.” The name is gospel centered and fitting—at least we think so!

The Five Solas

  • Sola Scriptura – The Bible is the ultimate authority for a believer
  • Sola Gratia – Salvation is given as a gift of grace alone.
  • Sola Fide – Salvation comes only through the means of faith alone.
  • Solus Christus – Salvation is a work of Christ alone.
  • Soli Deo Gloria – Glory belongs to God alone.

For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— not by works, so that no one can boast. For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.

Ephesians 2:8-10

He is the radiance of the glory of God and the exact imprint of his nature, and he upholds the universe by the word of his power. After making purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high… Hebrews 1:3

Please pray with us! Pray that God would continue to use us to tell the story of the gospel that is woven throughout history! Soli Deo gloria!
